PHYLLIS RAE AMIEL, BUCHANAN
Phyllis Rae (Mosier) Amiel, 56, of 2700 Riverside Rd., died Sunday evening Dec 2 in Lakeland Medical Center, Niles. She was born May 5, 1945 in Muskegon, Michigan. Mrs. Amiel was a 3rd grade teacher at Moccasin Elementary School and had been employed in the Buchanan Community Schools for 35 years. She was affiliated with Faith United Methodist Church, and she loved gardening, cooking, reading, people and animals. She was an avid sports fan.
On June 24, 1972, in Buchanan, she married Wade L Amiel. He survives with one daughter, Erica Amiel of Buchanan: a sister Eileen Saur of Muskegon; and her mother, Audrey (Page) Mosier of Muskegon. Her father, Ralph Mosier preceded her in death. Services will be held at Faith United Methodist Church, 728 N Detroit St on Thursday, Dec 6 at 10:30a.m. Visitation will be held in Swem Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec 5 from 2-4p.m. and 6-8p.m. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to Moccasin Elementary School Library.
HENRY ALAN BENNETT, BUCHANAN
Henry Alan "Big Al" Bennett, 60, of 402 S Oak, died Tuesday, Nov 27 at his home. He was born Oct 15, 1941 in Niles and was a lifetime resident of the area. He was a US Navy veteran and worked as an electrical technician. Survivors include two sons, Kenneth of Lansing and Scott of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Mellissa Lynn Ray of Osceola, Ind; three grandchildren; two brothers, Dr James Bennett of Elkhart and Brian Bennett of Sawyer; and two sisters, Jacque Ruth Engstron of Kalamazoo and Madeline Davis of Laurel, MT. Memorial services were held Saturday, Dec 1 in Hoven Funeral Home. Burial was in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan. Memorials are to the American Heart Association.
LILLIAN MAE DAVIS, BUCHANAN
Lillian Mae Davis, 79, of 911 S Third St, Niles, died Friday, Nov 30 in Silverbrook Manor. She was born Jan 1, 1922 in Goshen and was a lifetime resident of the area. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 51. On Aug 24, 1950, in Niles she married Harold "Snooks" Davis jr and he died March 9, 1978. Surviving is a daughter, Kathie Hartman of Buchanan and two grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday, Dec 4 in Hoven Funeral Home. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, South Bend.
